Boots are a fashion icon in the women's footwear range, they are never truly out of fashion and often become the peak of fashion for a short period.

Types Of Women's Boots

There are many different types of women's boots, depending what you are looking for. For example, there are the ultra long boots, which look smashing with a short mini skirt for the ultra sexy look on a night on the town. There are also comfortable walking boots which are handy if you are going on a weekend of hiking. Those are two extremes of this style of women's shoes, below I also try to cover everything in between

Dress Boots

Women's dress boots can cover anything from work boots, to boots you will wear when going out on the town. Typically they will be very stylish, really accentuating the beautiful lines of your legs.

You do need to be a little bit careful though when choosing shoes or boots as it is important to consider the outfit you will wear them with. Boots definitely do not go with everything. Wearing the wrong set of boots with the wrong skirt can turn "sexy" into slutty and none of us want that. Also, if you are buying boots for office or work attire, give careful consideration to the office dynamic. Try to match the level of conservatism in the office, with your style of boots. Not only will this help you find a pair of boots that match your suit nicely, but it will make for a more harmonious time in the office.

Always consider your outfit though, boots may not be the answer. Never discount a nice pair of women's shoes if boots just don't match the outfit you are wearing them with.

Fashion and Boots

These are the boots I like. Sometimes I want them long, sometimes loud. They are always fun though and when I wear them, I always have a great time. One thing I have found with boots I buy for fashion though, is they tend to be very application specific. They only match specific outfits or they are only appropriate at certain functions. This limits the occasions you can wear them. So these days (as I am a little wiser) I try shopping for bargains when I am shopping for fashion. Hundreds of dollars is too much to spend for a handful of wears.

Practical Boots

The defining qualities of practical boots are comfort and support. Often style is sacrificed a little here, but that is because your boots are there to serve a purpose. For example, you may want to buy some timberland hiking boots, in this case, you would not want thigh high boots with six inch heels. Rather you want a pair of boots that support your ankles against uneven walking trails.

Similarly, you should consider practicalities when buying boots for the office or work. These are the boots you will wear day in and day out, many hours per day. Comfort should always be given priority. The more your feet hurt, the less productive you will be. Also, consider neutral colors, you will be able to wear you footwear with many different outfits.

Shopping For Boots

Women's boots are typically sold anywhere women's shoes are sold. So you should not have to look too far. The only exception to this obviously is with specialty boots. For example, if you are looking for serious hiking boots, you will need to go to a sports department store or outdoors shop. Similarly, if you are looking for something a little "out there", you may have to shop at an alternative shop or even a costume shop.
